Oh My Rockness

Everyone loves the enigmatic Neko Case. The New Pornographers-member was even named "the sexiest woman of indie rock" in a poll conducted by Playboy. But Case is much more than just a fantasy for guys in horn-rimmed glasses. Her solo outings are inspired alt-country affairs (moving away from her earlier punk roots) and her unique sound can be compared to Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline meet Wilco.

She has developed a rabid following primarily due to her effortless mastery of her voice. Clearly a singer first and a songwriter second (she does tons of covers), Case's force is her vibrato. Somehow it sounds sweet and powerful and gritty and brawny all at the same time. This is the voice Caithlin De Marrais wishes she had. Case also plays a wide variety of instruments including guitar, piano, saw, and drums. Her talent is undeniable. No doubt this talent is the main reason she won that Playboy poll. Ah, who are we kidding.
