((Katie Ellen)) Band Profile and Upcoming Los Angeles Concerts - Oh My Rockness

Written by Patrick McNamara

NYC's Katie Ellen is a new duo formed from the (temporary?) ashes of Chumped, a very solid band that I hope comes back eventually because I was just learning to love them. I even included one of their jams in my favorite songs of 2015 list. Oh well. We'll always have the memories.

Anyway, Anika Pyle (vocals/guitar) and Dan Frelly (drums) now make lo-fi fuzz pop and I emphatically declare it GOOD. However, please note that I am basing this assessment on the only song (“Lucy Stone") the band has currently made available to curious listeners like me.

If this boss new track is a total fake out and on future songs Katie Ellen go folk goth or scream gaze or country bluegrass blues or something I'll go back and update this band profile to reflect their sonic evolution. Just kidding! I never update these things because who has the time when you're #DIY.

As of this writing (3:49 PM in the Year That I'm Writing This A.D.) Katie Ellen has only played like three shows so yes things are still pretty early. But now's your chance to get in on the ground floor of this goodness and then maybe someday you can brag to someone you want to impress and say, "No big deal I started listening to Katie Ellen when they only had like one song recorded and only played a few shows." Granted, the chances of this encounter are pretty slim but it's always good to be prepared just in case.

Please enjoy this GOOD song now.
