Let's talk about the good shows this week. There are so many it kind of makes me want to cry. And I'm not sure if they're happy or sad tears. Oh, well. That's what happens when you run your own music blob.

#1 FYF FEST - Los Angeles Sports Arena - Saturday/Sunday - August 22/23 - 2015 A.D.

FYF FEST is an abbreviation for Fuck Yeah Fest Fest. Kind of like when we say PIN number and ATM Machine we're really saying Personal Identification Number Number and Automated Teller Machine Machine. So that's fun. Anyway, this is going to be a big one. Some guy named Morrissey headlines and dozens of other good artists and bands are playing too. Check out the full lineup here. I'm going. #2 Fucked Up - Teragram Ballroom - Monday - August 17 - 2015 A.D.

Speaking of swear words, Fucked Up play Teragram. I have seen this Toronto hardcore goodness several times and it's always a 100% chill experience in that sweet noise shred sorta way. Out of a possible 5 stars I give this band all the tea in China.

#3 Ariel Pink - Santa Monica Pier (free) - Thursday - August 20 - 2015 A.D.

Excellent eccentro-pop* master Ariel Pink plays Santa Monica Pier for FREE and I would pay to see this one. I'm not going to. But I would, man. I would.

*I've been trying to get “eccentro-pop" recognized as a legit music genre for years - I hope someday someone finally hears me - and when/if they do I want 100% of the credit, please - thx.

#4 METZ - The Echo - Thursday - August 20 - 2015 A.D.

Toronto's METZ are basically one of the best live bands playing the game today. Bet. See them at The Echo tonight or see them at FYF Fest later this week. I don't really care when/where you see them. I just care that you see them. Because I want the best of things for U. Also playing this show is RETOX and Obliterations. That's 3 for 3 if you're keeping score at home.

#5 Modest Mouse - Hollywood Forever Cemetery - Friday - August 21 - 2015 A.D.

Modest Mouse play Hollywood Forever and people are DYING to get into this one. That's a joke for my pops. You can do these kinds of things when you run your own music blob. Thanks for listening.
