Band We Like: Soda

Gainesville's Soda make DIY punk that's ice cold good. You want riffs? You want sludge? You want scuzz? You want to feel like we're all headed to some sort of dystopian nightmare but it's cool because at least we'll still have good music like this to listen to when the ship goes down? If you answered yes to any of these questions please keep reading. If you answered no to any of these questions please keep reading.

The band of three (Arlington Garret on guitar/vocals + Lara Lookabough on bass/vocals + Meredith Kite on drums) is set to release their debut EP in like three days (such specific information will almost immediately out-date this band profile I never plan on updating yet here we are) by Dull Tools, the very fine label co-run by Andrew Savage of Parquet Courts and Chris Pickering of Future Punx. The first song on the record (which is called "Without a Head," BTW) is “New Trash" and here's the video for that.

Pretty good, right? I know! That's what I was just trying to tell you.

But that's not all. What if I told you we're not quite done with the goodness just yet? You want to listen to another good song off Soda's new record? Because I'm the kind of guy that can make that happen. Don't believe me?

GOOD SODA SONG #2. DROPPED.

Slightly less heavy and more melodic but still pretty good, right? I know!

You may now stop reading and start making plans to see Soda as soon as possible before we're all submerged under the sea.
