((Common Loon)) Band Profile and Upcoming Los Angeles Concerts - Oh My Rockness

I don't know much about the brand-new band, Common Loon. I know they're from Urbana, IL (Deron! Dee! Luther! James! The Rev!). I know that they are a duo. And I know they write very easy-going pop melodies that are breezy and a little bit hazy, but really are just kind of overall agreeable. Their songs don't swirl so much as they do relaxed rotations.
Common Loon tap into the pageantry of pleasantness by playing a clean, distortion-free guitar, and adding very warm background synths to the mix. It sounds a little like surf music on codeine. Or psych music minus the acid. Just call this pop. And for the sake of comparison, I guess these guys sometimes sound like early Death Cab For Cutie.
