((Electrelane)) Band Profile and Upcoming Los Angeles Concerts - Oh My Rockness
Electrelane
The ever-diverse Electrelane are guitarist Mia Clarke, bassist Rachel Dally, drummer Emma Gaze and keyboardist/guitarist Verity Susman. Together they fuse Stereolab-inspired beats with late 70's British guitar art-rock to create their own brand of speedy, ambient pop with an experimental bent. By taking the best aspects of bands like Wire and The Fall and incorporating a highly intricate web of weaving guitars and keyboards, Electrelane pull off the feat of sounding both familiar and fresh.
Their highly successful 2004 album The Power Out is their strongest creative contribution to date and introduces more vocals to the mix -- in French, German and Spanish, no less. All members have been outspoken proponents of female involvement in music and were a big part of the hugely successful Ladyfest concerts. As Electrelane grows, so does their ever-evolving sonic exploration. There seems to be no limit to what they can accomplish.
