((La Laque)) Band Profile and Upcoming Los Angeles Concerts - Oh My Rockness

The Brooklyn five-piece La Laque play Godard-inspired 60's slow mod rock that even non-smokers and coffee haters would want to light up and lift an espresso cup to. Their songs are sung in French. I don't speak French, Spanish is my jam, but I have a feeling singer Devery is singing about s-e-x. I could be wrong. She could be singing about puppies for all I know, but there's something seductive going on. (You heard it here first, French is a romantic language.)

But moving on, La Laque like to move slow... these airy ballads take their time as they rise and fall to the slow rhythms of some hidden Parisian pub. If you want a night of rocking out, you may want to look elsewhere. But if you like it mellow and want to set a subtle mood with a first (ok, maybe second) date, take them to a La Laque show. If your date falls asleep standing up, at least you'll know they weren't the one.
