((Slowlands)) Band Profile and Upcoming Los Angeles Concerts - Oh My Rockness
Slowlands
NYC's Slowlands have a nice sprawling sound (there are six members after all) that reminds me of a lot of modern Britpop. I hear Idlewild more than Clap Your Hands, as some have suggested. This is music that, according to the band, takes inspiration from the lyrics of Dylan Thomas and the movies of Terence Malick (but they're definitely less boring than Days of Heaven was).
Slowlands cellos, keyboards, and glockenspiels swirl at a steady pace, making for an extremely easy listen. Singer Josh Hayden Kolenik sure sounds like somebody, but I can't put my finger on who. Can someone let me know who I'm trying to think of? And it's not the dude from Clap.
