BAND WE LIKE: SCREEN FROGS ((Psychness in Seattle))
((The Rogers Sisters)) Band Profile and Upcoming Los Angeles Concerts - Oh My Rockness
The Rogers Sisters
These two sisters, and one completely unrelated guy, have been around Brooklyn for a few years now. Chances are you've seen them play at a loft party in Williamsburg. But in case you haven't caught their show, they sound exactly like what you'd think a Brooklyn band that plays loft parties would sound like (i.e., a little retro, new wave, no wave, punk, post-punk and garage rock).
The sisters, vocalist Jennifer and drummer Laura, with bassist Miyuki Furtado (who graciously abides the band's name), have of course strayed from the loft on many occasions. They've played shows with bands like Liars, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ted Leo and The Kills and have wowed the crowds with their dual vocal punk sparring.
They have a new album, Three Fingers on Troubleman that could potentially, and finally, rid them of their just-under-the-radar status. Their live show is always a spazz out and should be attended if you have some extra herk and jerk you want to shake away.
