Year Future
L.A's Year Future is fronted by Sonny Kay, pretty much a punk rock legend. Not only was he vocalist/wailer for seminal spazz bands, Angel Hair and The VSS, but he also started GSL, one of the very best punk labels in existence (The Mars Volta, !!!, The Locust, to name but a few of the bands on GSL's extensive roster).
His latest band, Year Future (whose drummer is in Moving Units) can be compared to Black Flag, Dead Kennedys and The Blood Brothers. But whatever comparisons you throw out there, Year Future is decidedly punk rock. There's no posing, no synthesizers, and no pretense. These are short, scratchy songs that race from the outset, hurtling towards the 3-minute finish line with unbridled fury.
