This is a real good week for real good shows. Am I just saying that because I run a music blob that centers on live concerts and therefore need to feign enthusiasm for the moving parts of the music industry all the time? You'll never know.

But I do know that you can't go wrong with these five shows. And I mean that, man. So help me blob.

#1 First Aid Kit - The Cathedral Sanctuary at Immanuel Presbyterian - Wednesday - August 5 - 2015 A.D.

Remember when First Aid Kit (click that if you like reading 6 year old band profiles) first floated into pop's consciousness when they were little kids doing that Fleet Foxes cover? They're all grown up now and play The Cathedral Sanctuary at Immanuel Presbyterian, a pretty perfect place for this soaring stuff, I'd say. Also, remember Fleet Foxes?

#2 Tame Impala - Hollywood Forever Cemetery - Thursday/Friday - August 6/7 - 2015 A.D.

Tame Impala (click that if you like reading 5 year old band profiles) play a cemetery and people are DYING to get into this one. My dad still thinks that joke is funny. How about you? But moving on, it's true. Demand is great. Both of these shows are sold-out. But remember, where there's a will there's a pay.

*my dad also thinks “I've told you a million times to stop exaggerating" is a real side-splitter too. If my dad sounds like the type of guy you'd like to know more about, read my interview with him as he recounts seeing The Beatles live in concert in 1966…..if you dare.

#3 Big Ups - The Echo - Saturday - August 8 - 2015 A.D.

Brooklyn punk's Big Ups (click that if you like reading 3 year old band profiles) play The Echo and they're fucking good. I've told you this a million times. And maybe tonight you'll finally listen. Go get your face blown off. You'll thank them for it after you pick your sloppy smile off from the floor.

#4 Sharon Van Etten - The Theatre at Ace - Saturday - August 8 - 2015 A.D.

Who doesn't like Sharon Van Etten (click that if you like reading 5 year old band profiles)? Nobody. Well, nobody I want to be around, anyway. If you don't like Sharon Van Etten let's never hang out. If you do, what time should I come over on Saturday before we head over to The Theatre at Ace?

#5 Weekend - The Echo - Sunday - August 9 - 2015 A.D.

Shoe swirl goth pop gaze ragers Weekend (click that if you like reading 5 year old band profiles) play The Echo. File Under: A Good Band. RIYL: #shoe #swirl #goth #pop #gaze #ragers

Amanda X (click that if you like reading 2 year old band profiles) also play this show and they rule so get there early please thx.

Other notable shows this week = Leon Bridges at The Grammy Museum + Basement/Whirr/LVL UP at The Observatory + Reggie Watts at El Cid + Boys Noize at Lot 613 + Wilco at The Greek + Django Django at El Rey + Ben Browning (of Cut Copy) at Santa Monica Pier + Laura Marling at The Palace Theatre + Unknown Mortal Orchestra at The Roxy + Echo & The Bunnymen at Pacific Amphitheater + Sky Ferreira at The Theatre at Ace + MillionYoung at Los Globos + Matt & Kim at Santa Monica Pier + Flying Lotus at Shrine Expo Hall + DJ Neon Indian at The Theatre at Ace.
