Chad Valley makes electro-pop awesomeness. - Oh My Rockness

Band We Like

Chad Valley makes electro-pop awesomeness.

September 26, 2011
Oxford's (the one in the UK... not the one in, uh, Mississippi) Chad Valley (real name: Hugo Manuel - other band: Jonquil) creates homemade electro-pop bliss that sparkles with radiantly danceable synth melodies. This will put you in a better mood.

Midway through your first listen I guarantee you'll be hooked on this guy (unless you're a crazy psycho, in which case, I have nothing... just leave and I swear I won't call the cops). I could listen to Chad Valley all day, and think I actually might have done just that. It's 5 o’clock already?!

Anyway, these are some seriously smooth NEON anthems with lots of that laid-back groove going on (oh, I was just told that this laid-back groove is called "chill"... wow, what an interesting word... chill... I like it... I like this "chill.").

The sweetly sublime sounds Chad Valley makes is often compared to Ernest Greene's Washed Out. And that's understandable because they both do a very similar thing. But it's such a good thing that there should be plenty of room in your musical heart for two one-man band bros whose music is directly kissed by the sun.

Chad Valley plays Bardot, on Monday, September 26th, and at The Echo, on Friday, September 30th.
