The 5 Best Shows in LA This Week: METZ + Cursive + Milo Greene + The Black Lips + Surfer Blood + Cults + more goodness

February 15, 2015

Written by Patrick McNamara

Let’s talk about five good shows happening this week and let’s talk about zero bad shows happening this week. Hope that’s cool.

Ready whenever you are.

Ready.

Set.

ZOOM.

#1. Slutever - Perhspace - Tuesday - February 17 - 2015 A.D.

Fuzzy punk duo Slutever play Perhspace and this band is set to blow up - bet. They recently released a sick split with bb bae bae band Girlpool and, speaking of that, here’s Slutever covering Girlpool for your streaming enjoyment. I took the trouble of finding it just for you, bb bae bae boo boo.

#2. Milo Greene - El Rey Theatre - Thursday - February 19 - 2015 A.D.

L.A.’s own Milo Greene play big time radio ready pop that sounds a little like Explosions in the Sky meets Band of Horses. I’m not saying that’s two top notch band comparisons right there but at least they'll get you on the road to close.

#3. Cursive - The Echo / The Glass House - Friday/Saturday - February 20/21 - 2015 A.D.

Venerable indie rock vets Cursive play twice this week. The band is celebrating 20 years of being a band - give a take a few years for the required hiatuses and such. I suggest you consider this one. These guys still bring the heat.

#4. AIR + STYLE - Rose Bowl - Saturday/Sunday - February 21/22 - 2015 A.D.

You can chill out in hot and sweaty Pasadena this weekend for AIR + STYLE - a two day fest featuring good bands like METZ + The Black Lips + Cults + Surfer Blood + on and on and goodness flows. Bring a hat for the brightness - one that doesn’t make you look like either Don Draper or Annie Hall, please.

#5. Body Language - Echo / Observatory - Sat/Sun - February 21/22 - 2015 A.D.

Brooklyn’s synth dance pop band Body Language will make your physical rhythms flow at The Echo and The Observatory this week. But only if you let these big time sexy beats take over. Dance like nobody cares because nobody does.
