Holy shit, there are a lot of good shows this week. Let's talk about five them real quick but be sure to stick around for the “Other Notable Shows This Week" section below because there are some big time names buried in there. All gold this week, man. #1 Mew - Origami Vinyl (free) - Tuesday - September 22 - 2015 A.D.

Denmark's Mew has been a good band for a long time. Did you know they formed over twenty years ago? It's totally true. Wikipedia would never lie to me about something like that. See them for free at Origami this week or if paying to see good shows is more your thing you can also see them on Friday at The Fonda (with The Dodos) if you want.

#2 Chad Valley - The Wayfarer - Wednesday - September 23 - 2015 A.D.

Chad Valley (aka Hugo Manuel) has one of the best voices playing the music game. And the beats. We must also mention the beats. See him sling his smooth synth pop at The Wayfarer. You won't regret it. This recommendation won't let you down. So help me blob.

(by the way, this is one of the very best pop songs of the last five years and yes I'm straight serious)

#3 Desert Stars Festival - Pappy & Harriet's - Fri/Sat/Sun - September 25/26/27 - 2015 A.D.

If you want to get out of town (and who doesn't every now and then…. who doesn't) I encourage you to go to Pappy & Harriet's in Pioneertown for the three day Desert Stars Festival. Good bands playing = The Lemonheads + Swervedriver + Lou Barlow + The Entrance Band + lots more because of course there are lots more this is a three day festival, remember?

#4 Shamir - El Rey Theatre - Saturday - September 26 - 2015 A.D.

Shamir is the best. Go see him. The end.

*or, you can choose to see him on Wednesday at The Observatory but you WILL choose to see him

#5 Grace Jones + Future Islands - Hollywood Bowl - Sunday - September 27 - 2015 A.D.

A legend (Grace Jones) and an all-star (Future Islands) play Hollywood Bowl. You know what to do.

Honorable Mention: Kanye West at Hollywood Bowl on Friday and Saturday

Because this guy really needs the press.
