Written by Patrick McNamara
You said that you wanted to see more good shows in 2016, right? Well, we better get started then don't you think?
#1 Mike Watt & The Missing Men - Harvard & Stone - Thursday - January 7 - 2016 A.D.
Not only can you go see a punk legend (Mike Watt) play this week but you can go see a punk legend play this week for FREE at Harvard & Stone. Man, 2016 A.D. is going to be the best year ever.
#2 Surfer Blood - Teragram Ballroom - Friday - January 8 - 2016 A.D.
Surfer Blood is a good band. Cayucas opens. They're a good band too. Let's hear it for good bands in 2016 A.D.
Please also consider donating to assist Surfer Blood member Thomas Fekete's continued cancer fight.
#3 Patti Smith & Her Band - The Wiltern - Friday/Saturday - January 8/9 - 2016 A.D.
Patti Smith (LEGEND) celebrates the 30th anniversary of her classic album “Horses" with two shows at The Wiltern this week. Also, I know I'm real late to the game but I just read her book “Just Kids" and it was pretty much the best rock 'n roll memoir I've ever read. Thanks for listening.
#4 The Smell Turns 18! - Friday/Saturday - January 8/9 - 2016 A.D.
It's going to take two nights to celebrate The Smell being an excellent place to see a show for the past 18 years. Ty Segall + together PANGEA + a bunch more bands are playing. See full lineup here. Happy Birthday, The Smell!
#5 Plague Vendor - El Rey Theatre - Saturday - January 9 - 2015 A.D.
Plague Vendor isn't even headlining this show. Prayers is. I just wanted to let you know that Plague Vendor rules. BTW, you can enter to win tickets to this show here.
Bam. Buh-Buh-Buh-Bum. Bam. Buh-Boom-Bam.
