20 Good Shows To See in LA This March

1. Thee Oh Sees play Non Plus Ultra on Thursday, March 2nd.

Best garage / psych / punk band ever, man.

2. Best Coast presents a benefit for Planned Parenthood at El Rey Theatre on Saturday, March 4th.

A super solid lineup of musical peeps we appreciate get together for a fantastic cause.

3. Sinkane plays Bootleg on Saturday, March 4th (tickets).

Dude's jams are dope as hell.

4. The Shins play Fox Theater Pomona on Saturday, March 4th.

This band will change your life, Natalie.

5. Jose Gonzalez play Royce Hall (UCLA) on Saturday, March 4th (tickets).

The greatest Argentinian-Swedish indie folk singer-songwriter of all time. Bet.

6. Spoon play The Observatory Sunday, March 6th (tickets).

Can't wait to hear the new Spoon song while trying on pants in some fitting room somewhere.

7. The Drums play The Glass House on Wednesday, March 8th (tickets).

Seen this band a hundred times*. Will always see them again. Forever and Ever. Amen.

*ok maybe not a hundred, I've been told to stop exaggerating a million times

8. LVL UP play The Echo on Thursday, March 9th (tickets).

One of our very favorite up-and-coming buzzy bands. Famous Seattle label Sup Pod (sp?) Records loves them too!

9. Japandroids play The Fonda Theatre on Thursday, March 10th and Friday, March 11th and The Observatory on Monday, March 13th (tickets).

These three shows are gonna be straight FIRE. Go to this and rock your FACE while you're still the youngest you will ever be.

10. Surf Curse play The Glass House on Thursday, March 9th (tickets)

Think jingle. Think jangle. Think haze. Think waves.

11. Terry Malts play The Hi Hat on Friday, March 10th (tickets).

Speaking of good albums, I give the new Terry Malts record five hundred stars and a thousand thumbs up and our coveted Best New Sounds designation.

12. Alex Lahey plays The Echo on Saturday, March 11th (tickets).

Laid-back lo fi pop rock from Melbourne. Sticky hooks meets a totally chill who gives a f*** vibe meets solid gold slacker hits.

13. Fucked Up play The Echo on Sunday, March 12th (tickets) and Monday, March 13th (tickets).

Hardcore will never die but you will. Oh, Canada!

14. The Menzingers play The Glass House on Monday, March 13th (tickets) and The Regent Theater on Tuesday, March 14th (tickets).

You will not find stronger power punk melodies happening anywhere else this month.

15. Teenage Fanclub play Teragram Ballroom on Friday, March 17th (tickets) and Pappy & Harriet's on Saturday, March 18th (tickets).

Missed out on these Scottish rockers in the '90s and in the seventeen years of the Aughts? That's OK. It happens. Start with this album. It's a classic.

16. GØGGS (w/ Ty Segall) play The Echo on Friday, March 17th (tickets).

I mean MAYBE there are still tickets to this. Check. I can't be doing all the work for you.

17. Death Cab For Cutie play House of Blues Anaheim on Sunday, March 19th (tickets).

This is my favorite Death Cab song, probably. It's sad and old.

18. La Luz play The Echo on Friday, March 24th (tickets) and Alex's Bar on Saturday, March 25th (tickets).

Have you ever stage-dived and crowd-surfed to doo-wop? You can to this Seattle band. SOLID.

19. Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever play The Echo on Sunday, March 26th (tickets).

20. The Orwells play The Regent Theater on Thursday, March 30 (tickets).

The finest psych pop rockers to ever come out Elmhurst, Illinois. You heard it here FIRST.
