There are many good shows in LA this week.
Let's talk up a few of them right quick.
20 Good Shows To See in LA This Week
May 8 - May 14 / 2017 A.D.
1. The Flaming Lips play The Theatre at Ace on Tuesday, May 9th.
"Tell everybody
Waitin' to buy tickets to this
That they should try to
Hold on
Best they can
He hasn't dropped them
Forgot them
Or anything
It's just too sold-out for Superman to lift."
2. John Early does stand-up at The Satellite on Tuesday, May 9th (tickets).
But moving on to happier times,
John Early headlines this comedy show and that dude is hilarious.
3. Com Truise plays The Regent Theater on Thursday, May 11th (tickets).
Been loving this dude's jams since 2011 A.D.
This is still my favorite Com Truise song.
I ❤️ it.
4. PJ Harvey plays The Greek Theatre on Friday, May 12th (tickets).
This is the #8 most popular upcoming show.
Everybody save it and let's get it to #1.
5. Tiny Moving Parts play The Regent Theater with Real Friends on Friday, May 12th (tickets).
In the humble opinion of this music blob, Minnesota's Tiny Moving Parts are one of the best math-emo-punk bands out there.
If you like this song (spoiler: you will) listen to the whole album.
This band rules.
6. Princess perform at Largo on Saturday, May 13th (tickets).
Princess is Maya Rudolph and Gretchen Lieberum.
File Under: post SNL pop
7. Thurston Moore Group play Teragram Ballroom on Saturday, May 13th (tickets).
Can't never remember what band this dude was in before this one.
...
8. At the Drive-In play Shrine Expo Hall on Saturday, May 13th (tickets).
"The new At the Drive-In is good!"
-the Internet
"The new At the Drive-In is bad!"
- the Internet
You decide. The Internet is stupid. You heard it here first.
9. Conor Oberst plays The Greek Theatre on Saturday, May 13th.
Mr. Bright Eyes (not to be confused with Mr. Brightside) gets himself to The Greek tonight.
"Oh Commander Venus My Commander Venus!"
Julien Baker opens this show.
Please note: Julien Baker rules.
10. Matt Pryor and Dan Andriano play The Echo on Sunday, May 14th (tickets).
Matt Pryor is from The Get Up Kids. Dan Andriano is from Alkaline Trio.
Together, they're playing post emo songs at The Echo.
But moving on,
This is the best Get Up Kids song probably.
This is the best Alkaline Trio song most likely.
In summation,
Here's a Matt Pryor / Dan Andriano song.
Rounding Out The Top Twenty:
Peter Silberman (of The Antlers) at Teragram Ballroom
Dilated Peoples at The Observatory
Aimee Mann at The Theatre at Ace
Simian Mobile Disco at Venue TBA
Acid Mothers Temple at ECHOPLEX
Calvin Love at Bootleg Theater
Aye Nako w/ Upset at Acerogami
