So many good shows this month.

Let's talk about some of them.

40 Good Shows To See In LA In June

1. Wavves at Teragram Ballroom on Friday, June 2nd.

Go to this Wavves show or don't.

It's gonna rule either way.

1-2-3 PUNK YOU.

2. Elvis Costello and the Imposters at The Greek Theatre on Sunday, June 3rd.

One of the very best moments of The Larry Sanders Show.

3. The Anniversary at Troubadour on Sunday, June 11th.

These underrated late '90s / early aughts emo heroes play their first headlining show in LA in a million years (give or take).

If you like(d) The Get Up Kids you like(d) The Anniversary.

Blast this JAM from their classic debut album Designing a Nervous Breakdown.

4. Rostam at Hollywood Forever on Monday, June 12th.

He may no longer be in Vampire Weekend* but Rostam is still spitting out the pretty pop hits!

You should go to this show at the cemetery tho.

*he'll be back -- bet

5. Franz Ferdinand at The Regent Theater on Monday, June 12th.

Just off the phone with 2004 A.D.

They'd like to sell me some more recent Franz Ferdinand songs than Take Me Out.

"Sorry," I told them. "It's been 13 years and I haven't had a problem with this one yet."

6. Phoenix at Hollywood Bowl on Thursday, June 15th.

This is Phoenix's first non-festival L.A. show in like 4 years!

Mighty Morphin Mac DeMarco and The Lemon Twigs also play.

Counting down the hours until the middle of June. Hope tickets are still available. Not being able to get into this one would be cruel and everlasting.

7. (Sandy) Alex G at The Echo on Thursday, June 15th.

The next big thing.

You heard it here fourth.

8. Evan Dando at The Roxy on Friday, June 16th.

Evan Dando plays a solo show.

He's from The Lemonheads.

I ❤️ The Lemonheads.

9. The Black Lips at The Observatory on Tuesday, June 20th.

Atlanta's The Black Lips consistently blast one of the best live shows in the live music game.

Few bands do grimy garage better.

So help me blob.

10. Aldous Harding at The Echo on Thursday, June 22nd.

Gothic acid folk straight outta New Zealand!

Aldous Harding makes moody goodness that gets under your skin and chills for awhile.

So good.

11. Girlpool at The Glass House on Thursday, June 22nd.

Have you heard Girlpool's new album? It rules. You should listen to it a hundred times ASAP.

And then go see them play songs from it at The Glass House.

RIYL: bands that rule

12. La Luz at The Getty on Saturday, June 24th.

Free La Luz show at The Getty.

Spread the weirdo word.

13. Animal Collective at The Observatory on Saturday, June 24th.

ANIMAL COLLECTIVE FOREVA.

14. Arroyo Secco Weekend at Brookside at the Rose Bowl on Saturday, June 24th / Sunday, June 25th.

Peep playing this jam out near the Rose Bowl include Tom Petty, Alabama Shakes, Mumford & Sons, Dawes, Charles Bradley, The Shins, Andrew Bird, Fitz and the Tantrums and Weezer to name just a few.

And Broken Social Scene too.

Whew.

15. Seu Jorge at Hollywood Bowl on Sunday, June 25th.

Got plans for June 25th already?

Ch-ch-ch-ch-change them.

Seu Jorge does "The Life Aquatic, A Tribute to David Bowie" at Hollywood Bowl.

16. Air at The Greek Theatre on Sunday, June 25th.

First show for French electronic band Air in a million* years.

We will always have Moon Safari.

(and the seven studio records they've put out since)

*number approximate

17. Day Wave at El Rey Theatre on Wednesday, June 28th.

Have you heard the new Day Wave album yet?

I love it.

This show will be 100% chill.

Day Wave take me away!

18. Buzzcocks at The Roxy on Thursday, June 29th / Friday, June 30th.

The seminal British punks (born circa 1976 A.D.) are still out there tearing it up!

Buzzcocks released three albums in the '70s, three albums in the '90s and three albums in the new Willennium.

They sat out the '80s, basically. Probably not a bad call.

19. Junior Boys / How to Dress Well at Globe Theatre on Friday, June 30th.

Pitchfork is presenting this double good bill.

Best New Bill.

100.00.

20. Cat Power at The Observatory on Friday, June 30th.

CAT POWER FOREVA.
