20 Good Shows To See in LA This Week!
October 10th - October 16th / 2017 A.D.
Clearly one of the best lineups for any festival this year. So help me blob.
Three days of the dopest music at an institute designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in the middle of Joshua Tree = Desert Daze.
CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS COSMIC JOURNEY THROUGH SPACE AND LOVE AND TIME.
2. The National at Hollywood Bowl on Wednesday, October 11th.
First time this best band has gotten back to a bowl game since that one time they were carried in the arms of cheerleaders.
Courtney & Kurt > Kurt & Courtney.
Three chances to see this laid-back dynamic duo this week.
I'm OK. You're OK. They're OK. Everything is chillll.
4. Andrew Bird at Zebulon on Thursday, October 12th.
Andrew Bird playing this small show.
Tickets gonna FLY.
5. First Aid Kit at The Theatre at Ace on Friday, October 13th.
Remember this?
The 9-year-old video that started it all.
6. The Afghan Whigs at The Fonda Theatre on Friday, October 13th.
I still watch this video on a regular basis.
The Afghan Whigs rule.
7. Depeche Mode at Hollywood Bowl (four shows).
Go see Depeche Mode this week!
Or stay home on your couch and enjoy the silence.
(I'm not going to be able to sway you either way. It's 2017 A.D. Your decision has already been made.)
8. Rainer Maria at The Echo on Saturday, October 14th / The Observatory on Sunday, October 15th.
This emo band has ruled for over 20 years (even during their extended ten year hiatus -- they still ruled).
The last time I saw Rainer Maria was a couple years ago at CMJ (RIP) and they were the best band I saw of that whole dumb dead fest.
Also, their brand new album totally rules.
< Rainer Maria > Rainer Maria < Rainer Maria >
9. David Lynch Festival at The Theatre at Ace on Saturday, October 14th / Sunday, October 15th.
Bon Iver * Sharon Van Etten * The Kills * TV on the Radio * Laura Marling * Reggie Watts
These are some of the names playing David Lynch's two-day festival this weekend! #famousfriends
"Dougie!"
10. Sun Kil Moon at The Regent Theater on Sunday, October 15th.
Sun Kil Moon playing this show.
Tickets still available for everyone except The War on Drugs dude.
Rounding Out The Top 20:
Hope Sandoval at The Fonda Theatre
Father John Misty at The Greek Theatre
Flying Lotus at Hollywood Forever
Tera Melos / Speedy Ortiz at The Roxy
Elvis Perkins at Hollywood Forever
Maria Usbeck / Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith at The Sanctuary at Pico-Union
