Love, Death, Religion: AA Bondy puts it all in song.
January 11, 2010
Alabama/NY's AA Bondy is a good old-fashioned country-blues-Americana folkster who keeps things simple. He has the requisite acoustic guitar which he uses to accompany his dark, tear-in-your-beer croons that lament about love, death and religion. That about covers all the topics worth singing about, doesn't it? He's certainly following in the footsteps of his cited favorites, Tom Waits, Tom Petty and Bobby D in terms of songwriting style and sound.
But beyond those obvious living legends, Bondy should appeal to new followers of Bon Iver (who happens to be his current touring partner) and maybe the few remaining fans Ryan Adams has left. Oh, AA Bondy has a very nice voice, too. Good vocals always help a troubadour's cause (unless you're Tom Waits or Bob Dylan or Tom Petty, of course).
