Montreal's The Besnard Lakes are a sprawling psych-pop band led by husband/wife duo Jace Lasek and Olga Goreas and their cast of supporting players (on stage, there are six of them). Together, they play music that is harmonious, orchestral, strange, and sometimes just pleasantly mellow.

When he's not being a Besnard about everything, Lasek is known as a sound engineer extraordinaire, recording albums for Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown, Islands, Stars and just about every other popular Canadian band circa now. Of course, he also recorded The Besnard Lakes' acclaimed The Besnard Lakes Are The Dark Horse a few years back, too.

The band's carefree swirls can be compared to The Beach Boys meets Black Mountain meets Pink Floyd meets Panda Bear.
