This is about New Division. But it could also be about Order Joy. - Oh My Rockness

Band We Like

This is about New Division. But it could also be about Order Joy.

April 10, 2011
L.A.'s The New Divison plays '80s inspired synth pop. So, of course they're going to name their band The New Division. Personally, I would have gone with Depeche Division... or maybe Duran Duran Division.

This band plays super catchy, somewhat goth-y, and even somewhat glittery, songs that definitely have Joy Division and New Order written all over their notes. So these four guys aren't misrepresenting anything with their chosen moniker. These electro jams are a nod to the past... all... the... way. And hey, how about this, the singer even kind of sounds like Morrissey!

They say that there is nothing new under the sun, and The New Division is doing nothing to dispel that theory. But screw it, I like '80s synth pop and I've worn out my collection of the original masters. So I'll listen to these new guys and, you know, I'll like them too.

The New Division play the Central Social Aid & Pleasure Club, on Friday, July 8th.
