Frightened Rabbit plays purely accessible indie-pop. - Oh My Rockness

Band We Like

Frightened Rabbit plays purely accessible indie-pop.

October 16, 2007
No big deal, just another very good hyper-melodic guitar band from Glasgow, Scotland that put out a superbly solid album for Fat Cat Records (see: The Twilight Sad for all the above). And like The Twilight Sad, Frightened Rabbit have absolutely nothing to be scared about, as success in show business will surely be theirs for the taking. How can they not be successful with accessible songs such as these? (They don't really go into Twilight's "noise-out" territory too often).

The band features the brothers Scott (guitar, keys, vocals) and Grant (drums, marimba, vocals), and some other non-brother named Billy (guitar, keys). Together, they write songs that border on straight-up pop anthems. Please don't take this the wrong way, but think of them as a much, much, much, much better version Counting Crows. (I can't believe I just wrote that. It makes me sick that I just wrote that. Will you please just forget I ever said that?)

Frightened Rabbit play (with Pinback) at The Wiltern, on Sunday, October 28th.
