Spend New Year's Eve with Justice!
December 18, 2007
If 2007 wasn't what you thought it was going to be (I'm still waiting to hear back from NASA about my astronaut application...it's been sixteen years), at least you can say farewell to the year by getting your body electrified by Justice when they play Lot613 on New Year's Eve. The stuff they spin may not be rocket science, but it sure is fun. In 2008, I'm going to D.A.N.C.E.
Can one even hope to be any hipper than these dudes in Justice? I mean, one guy goes by "The Moustache" and the other guy goes by "The China." (Somewhere "Hotel" from The Kills is kicking himself.) And not only that, but we were in the same hotel as Justice when we went to the Oya Festival in Norway in August., and we saw one of them in the elevator (not sure if it was "The China" or "The Mustache." It was "The Short Guy.") wearing a JUSTICE belt-buckle! Now I would say that is definitely cooler than cool to wear a belt-buckle of your own band.
Justice is a Parisian duo that creates electro-dance-beat wizardry similar to (Simian Mobile Disco and (Digitalism. Their live shows are an exercise in music machine mastery as they rock their laptops, turntables, and MP3 players. In other words, Justice doesn't mess with guitars, or any other traditional rock show instruments, to get you dancing. And boy were people going APE-SHIT in Norway when these guys turned that knob that made the bass go BOOM.
Justice's debut full-length is out now on Vice Records (Bloc Party, The Streets) this fall, and you'll probably be hearing it played at every after-party you go to for the rest of 2007. Justice also really likes to remix, doing their interpretations of Death From Above 1979, Soulwax and Franz Ferdinand songs. They've sure got a handle on hip.
Mental Note: learn how to DJ and have myself made an Oh My Rockness belt-buckle.
Happy New Year!
