The 5 Best Shows in LA This Week: Airborne Toxic Event + Caribou + Dan Deacon + The Sidekicks + Destruction Unit + Cayeana + more goodness

February 23, 2015

Written by Patrick McNamara

This final week of February brings some stellar shows and if you decide to do what’s right and go to one of these (or maybe even a few) we’re pretty sure you will never feel anything remotely resembling unhappiness ever again in your entire life. So help me blob.

#1. The Airborne Toxic Event - Amoeba - Wed - Feb 25 - 2015 A.D.

Let’s start with something good that doesn’t cost money. Soaring euphoric big time radio friendly popsters The Airborne Toxic Event play a FREE show at Amoeba Records which means you’ll have money to spend on records. You see? Everybody wins. Long live commerce.

#2. Caribou - The Fonda Theatre - Thurs/Fri/Sat - Feb 27/28/29 - 2015 A.D.

Dan Snaith aka Manitoba aka Caribou plays three shows at The Fonda this week. Recommended if you like big time chill beats that sometimes swing sexy. There will be visuals. So make sure you prep beforehand if you know what I mean, mannnnnn. See you on Mars.

#3. Dan Deacon - Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock - Fri - Feb 27 - 2015 A.D.

It’s impossible NOT to have fun at a Dan Deacon show (unless you just so happen to be bringing your own heavy shit that even a triumphant party can’t seem to shake). This show will be a JOYFUL EXPERIENCE so dance like nobody cares because nobody does.

#4. The Sidekicks + Cayetana - Jewels Catch One - Fri - Feb 27 - 2015 A.D.

Two good bands - one low price. Cleveland sunshine popsters The Sidekicks (think early Built to Spill meets the good Band of Horses album) plays Jewels Catch One with super solid Philly lo-fi pop emo band Cayetana. You will leave singing along to both. Bet.

#5. - Milk Music/Nude Beach/Destruction Unit - Jewels Catch One - Sun - Feb 28 - 2015 A.D.

Oh yeah? Well this one has THREE good bands - one low price. Olympia fuzz grunge heroes Milk Music + Brooklyn’s Nude Beach (Replacements-esque?) + the raw power of Phoenix’s Destruction Unit team up for a loud, raucous, and 100000% fun evening. Bring earplugs and nobody gets hurt.

Have fun out there! Whoa My Blobness luvs U!
