It's a good week for good shows in LA but let's quickly highlight only 5 of them because there's no point in anyone getting overwhelmed with choices. This is supposed to be fun. This is supposed to be chill.

But if you like stressing yourself out go visit this part of our blob to see more show going options than the ones listed below. You do you. It's your journey, man.

#1 HEALTH - The Echo - Wed/Thurs/Fri - July 22/23/24 - 2015 A.D.

LA noise band HEALTH has been super solid seemingly forever (well, 2007 - but that's close enough). They play The Echo three times this week and they will still rule. Hard. Bring earplugs and nobody gets hurt. Bet.

#2 Pictureplane - The Federal Bar - Wednesday - July 22 - 2015 A.D.

Brooklyn's (by way of Colorado) Pictureplane (aka Travis Egedy) makes super seductive beats that can flood you with positive vibes if you're in the right state of mind. Consider improving your mood by seeing him at The Federal Bar tonight. Or, if it's more convenient, Pictureplane also play The Observatory on Saturday (with HEEMS) and The Echo the following Monday (also with HEEMS) but now we're getting into next week on this thing and let's stay focused, man.

#3 Ducktails - The Getty (free!) - Friday - July 24 - 2015 A.D.

Matt Mondanile is the guitarist in Real Estate but he's also been the main man behind Ducktails for just as long as that other maybe more famous band of his has been around. See the latter at The Getty tonight. It's totally 100% free (except for parking, that's on you) and perhaps consider seeing Real Estate some other time (even though you just missed them play a free show at Santa Monica Pier last week oh well it'll be OK life is full of second third fourth fifth six chances).

#4 TV on the Radio - Annenberg Space for Photography (free w/ RSVP) - Saturday - July 25 - 2015 A.D.

Brooklyn's TV on the Radio is a good band. You may see them for free tonight if you RSVP. RIYL: good bands. File Under: a good band

#5 Happy Diving - The Echo - Sunday - July 26 - 2015 A.D.

If you're in the mood to take a flyer out on a new band you might not have heard before I suggest taking that flyer straight to The Echo and see San Francisco's Happy Diving - especially if you like loud fuzzy super catchy sludge pop. Just a solid music blob tip. Do with it what you will.
