Let's talk about good shows going down in the greater better sweeter Los Angeles area this week in a laid-back and casual manner.

And then let's talk about something else.

Welcome to Costco. I luv U.

#1 No Joy - Los Globos + Cold Showers + Roses - Tuesday - June 16 - 2015 A.D.

Three good bands are playing Los Globos. You've got your good heavy swirl gaze headliners, No Joy, but you also get post-something pop jangle punks, Cold Showers, and sunny popsters, Roses, too. That's three for the price of one, man. File Under: #good #bands #good #bargains

#2 Jonathan Richman - El Rey - Friday - June 19 - 2015 A.D.

Hell, yeah. Slacker post (_____) punk songwriting legend Jonathan Richman plays El Rey. You know. From the Modern Lovers, man. Yeah, that's the guy. He's a cool cat, right? Yeah, man. He's straight.

#3 Fartbarf - The Echo - Friday - June 19 - 2015 A.D.

Consider going to The Echo on this night because with a name like Fartbarf it's gotta be good.

#4 Surfer Blood - Troubadour - Friday - June 19 - 2015 A.D.

Florida's Surfer Blood (click that if you like reading six-year-old band profiles) sling their smooth pop at Troubadour and are worthy of your attendance. Get there early to see Gothic Tropic and Alex Calder's goodness, too. That's 1-2-3 good bands. Clear eyes. Full hearts. Can't lose.

#5 Underworld - Hollywood Bowl - Sunday - June 21 - 2015 A.D.

Seeing electronic masters Underworld live at least once in your life comes highly recommended by this music blob. If for nothing else (and they've already given us so much), go support Underworld because without their existence the final scene of 1996's modern day classic drug movie, “Trainspotting," would not have been possible and I don't want to know what that movie world is like because when the beginning of “Born Slippy" kicks in right as Francis Begbie blows smoke in Mark Renton's face I get the chills to this day, even still.

Other notable shows = PINS at The Echo + Action Bronson at The Observatory + J Mascis at The Observatory + Reggie Watts at El Cid + Boots at The Echo + Jaga Jazzist at Teragram Ballroom + Los Angeles Police Department at The Observatory + Butch Walker at Hollywood Forever Cemetery + Shannon and The Clams at The Getty + Brian Wilson at The Greek
