Let's talk about the good shows happening in/around/above/below LA this week. How about we quickly highlight, oh let's say, five of them and call them the BEST. Go to one. Go to all. Go to none. I don't really care what you do in your evening hours. I just want you to be happy.

#1 Hot Chip - The Greek - Tuesday - August 11 - 2015 A.D.

Ah, a lovely setting to see a lovely band. Hot Chip (click that if you enjoy reading band profiles that are 9 years old) celebrate fifteen years of being 100% chill with a show at The Greek. This one is destined to bring the good vibez. You can dance. If you want to. Or, you could just sit and listen to Hot Chip play their instantly likeable synth songs with a subtle smile on your face. Whatever you want to do, man. Please note that !!! + Com Truise also play this show and they both rule too.

#2 The Jesus and Mary Chain - The Glass House - Thursday - August 13 - 2015 A.D.

Shoegaze legends The Jesus and Mary Chain play The Glass House. You should go. Or, if you perhaps think Pomona is a little too far to travel to see a band right up there in the swirling noise pop pantheon with the likes of My Bloody Valentine and Ride I have to things to say to you 1). if you have an automobile all you literally have to do is sit in it, press your foot down a few times, and you're there and 2). just wait and see them at The Fonda next week I don't care you do you it's you journey.

#3 Echo Park Rising - Multiple Venues - Friday/Saturday/Sunday - August 14 - 2015 A.D.

This one's always fun. A bunch of venues and shops in Echo Park are working together to bring you three days of free music. Hell, yeah. It's Echo Park Rising time. A bunch of bands are playing, including Fartbarf (yum!) + Superhumanoids + The Lovely Bad Things + Deap Vally + that's not even the start of it. Check out some of the bands here. More will be added as we find out about them too. Music blobbing takes research and work, man. Especially when you're hand listing everything. It's not all fun and games at Whoa My Blobness, baby.

#4 Berserktown II - The Observatory - Friday/Saturday/Sunday - August 15/16 - 2015 A.D.

This three day fest at The Observatory is gonna be NO JOKE. Berserktown comes back for Round 2 and it just might be the best little fest of the entire summer. Bands playing include: Thee Oh Sees + Royal Trux (reunion!) + White Lung + Screaming Females (more on them in a minute) + Total Control + Destruction Unit + Royal Headache + Zig Zags + LOTS. You should go to this and I should mind my own business.

#5 Screaming Females - VLHS Warehouse - Saturday - August 15 - 2015 A.D.

New Jersey's Screaming Females sling some of the finest punk rock around. Go see them do their sublime shred thing at VLHS Warehouse tonight. Or, stay at home and stream a show. This is your life. EMBRACE GOODNESS however you see fit. Cause we only go around once and life ain't no dress rehearsal, friend. I hope you remember that. Forever and Ever. Amen.

Other notable shows = Future at The Observatory + Of Monsters and Men at The Grammy Museum + Jackson Browne at Santa Barbara Bowl + La Luz at The Echo + Happyness at The Wayfarer + Jason Isbell at The Wiltern + Rise Against at Hollywood Palladium + Marriages at Los Globos + Upset at Non Plus Ultra + Alabama Shakes at The Greek + Cayucas at El Rey + Cold War Kids at Annenberg Space for Photography (free w/ RSVP)
